Tomorrow is the big day...

Happy New Year everyone. Only 2 hours 45 mins. to go. Well, my New Year's Resolution is to be a better blogger - tomorrow is my big day. Hopefully, I will be true to my word.

Nothing much to post since my last post. We had a great Christmas. Surrounded by family and friends - isn't that the best part. Unfortunately, we have been plagued by some sort of illness, or several of them. Casey, Zach and I have all been hit. So far, Catie and Bryce are staying safe...I hope that continues. Casey is really down right now. Hopefully a good nights sleep will make the New Year a better year.

HAPPY 2009!!!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

Being as I have already mentioned...I am not an expert blogger, I cannot figure out how to just have our Christmas card be there without the blank stuff at the bottom. Hopefully, however, you got the idea. Merry Christmas to all out there. Personally, I can focus on having a Merry Christmas - AFTER I finish all the wrapping. Luckily, the shopping is done. I don't want to brave the stores again...yesterday was pretty hairy.

It's me again...

Well, I am trying this again. Am I the world's worst blogger, or what? Weekly updates and a pretty design is my New Year's Resolution.

Going into this Christmas week...I am the most unprepared I have ever been. At least in the past, I had a plan, and knew what I had to get. This year, I am really stumped. Zachary is usually my easiest, this year, he is the hardest. Casey is always the hardest, but luckily we decided just to do stockings for each other this year.

As for the family...we are all doing well. Had a rough patch, but we are all regrouped, and I think our little world on Utt Drive is back under control. Bryce just got a new job at 30 Min. Photo - he will be making a lot of money, too. He got lucky with this one. Zachary is working hard in school and water polo; he is doing SoCal a club team for the off season to improve his game for his senior year. Caitlyn is all adjusted to middle school. She made Honor Roll for the 1st quarter. She will be going to a dance after school tomorrow...then they are all on Christmas break.

Fortunately for our family, the economy's down turn hasn't affected Casey's business. He is as busy as ever. He had a couple of rain days this week, but he has work lined up for weeks to come. I hope all of you are surviving the economic mess OK.

I am signing off for now, but I promise...I will be back. I won't go months again...hopefully, just days.

School Week

Well, I only got a first day of school picture of Caitlyn. Zach leaves too early with morning work out and zero period, and he gets home too late from afternoon workout and then he is only half dressed. However, I haven't downloaded Catie's picture yet, so I will try to do so in the next couple of days.

The first day/week of school went well. Bryce LOVES college, and his criminal justice classes. Zachary seems happy with his schedule, and is striving for a 3.5 this semester. He can get his license on Dec. 29th, if he has a 3.0, and he wants his license bad, so I think he will pull it off. As for Catie, surprise, surprise...she LOVED middle school. She is pretty happy with everything, except for the fact that she has to take music for the first semester. I think she will survive 18 weeks. She can't wait until 2nd semester when that class changes to woodshop, and she can be just like her daddy.

Speaking of the daddy. He returned tonight from his week long venture backpacking in the high sierra's. He had a great time. He loves doing that. He caught over 300 fish. He threw them all back, except for the 2 he ate. I am glad he was able to take off a week for himself, he deserves it...he works so hard. It has been 7 years I think since his last trip, so he was overdue.

Anyway, I'll write more soon, and hopefully have pictures for you.

This is where we will start...

I must say, this year is a transition year for Casey and I as parents. It is mighty strange to go from having 3 kids, to having 2 kids and an 18 year old in college.

It is really difficult to stop trying to tell Bryce what to do, and realize all we can do is guide him, but we need to let him make his own mistakes...and he has definately made a few that he is hopefully learning from. He did start college last week at Santa Ana College. He is enrolled in the criminal justice program. So far, he is loving it. I just hope he KEEPS loving it.

As for Zach, he is driving on his permit...he is pretty good at driving, actually. He starts his junior year on Wednesday. He has spent the entire summer at the Tustin High pool. He had summer season polo, and he taught swim lessons and did lifeguarding at rec swim. He then had 2 weeks off, and is now back at the pool. Tomorrow will be his last day of 2-1/2 weeks of HellWeek(s) to prepare for the fall water polo season.

And our little Caitlyn, starts middle school on Wednesday...that I cannot believe. I know she will do well, but where did the time go? She has grown up so fast. She spent her summer playing everywhere with everyone. I swear she knows most of the town of Tustin. This will be the first year since preschool that she will not be in the same school as her cousin Josh. She is not looking forward to that. I will miss seeing him around campus, as well.

I will try to be a good blogger and post pictures of their first day of school...You can't do that with college kids. But hopefully, I can get my other 2 for you all.

As for my extended family (parents, siblings, grammy, aunts, uncles, cousins, niece, nephews, etc.) not much changed for any of them this summer. With the exception of my baby brother Michael and wife, Shanna, who had our new baby Cayden on July 25th. He is just a doll, and looks just like little Marky did at his age. So far, he is just as good a baby as Marky was too.

OK, all, cross your fingers that I become a faithful blogger!!!
